Comprehensive Survey Solutions for Prime Projects
Durkin recently partnered with Prime Projects to conduct a comprehensive QLB and QLA NDD utility investigation at 12 Carter St, Lidcombe. The project, spanning from 16 January 2024 to 8 February 2024, was critical for the development of a six-storey Storage King facility. Our objective was to identify and map all critical assets and utilities onsite, providing detailed information on the positioning and depth of these services for the redevelopment.
The Problem
The site presented a significant challenge due to the numerous critical utilities in close proximity to one another that required locating. Conducting the QLA NDD potholing investigation required careful planning and precision to avoid disrupting these essential services. Additionally, coordinating the presence of utility owners and managing the removal of concrete slabs to access the underlying services added layers of complexity to the project.
The Solution
To address these challenges, we devised a meticulous plan that staggered the presence of utility owners, ensuring continuous workflow while respecting exclusion zones for other utilities. This approach allowed us to maintain a consistent pace of work, minimising downtime and ensuring that all critical services were accurately located and mapped.
The QLB utility survey identified all services present onsite, while the QLA NDD potholing pinpointed the exact location and depth of critical services within the front car park. Our team then produced a comprehensive utility plan, reflecting the QLA NDD pothole data and site findings, providing Prime Projects with a detailed and accurate representation of the site's utility network.
The Results
The project was completed on time and within budget, delivering exceptional results that met Prime Projects’ needs. The utility plans we produced outlined the complexity of the utility network, ensuring that all QLA potholes were accurately completed and all utilities were successfully exposed. This detailed information significantly aided the asset authorities in planning the redevelopment of the site.
Our ability to coordinate effectively with utility owners and manage the intricate site conditions underscored our commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. The successful completion of this project demonstrates Durkin’s capability to handle complex utility investigations with precision and efficiency.
